I’ve found that this easy method for washing strawberries does a great job of getting rid of dirt and helps them last longer—usually up to a full week.
Here’s what I do:
- Place the strawberries in a bowl.
- Sprinkle about a tablespoon of baking soda over them.
- Add a mixture of 1 part vinegar and 3 parts water.
- Let them soak for 15 minutes.
- Rinse the berries and remove the green tops.
- Lay the strawberries out on a towel to dry completely.
- Once dry, pack them into a mason jar with a folded paper towel at the bottom or a container that offers airflow.
- Store them in the fridge.

Even better than the mason jar is this container I found at Costco a couple years ago.
